Shangrao is Jiangxi's northeast prefecture, home to two spectacular scenic areas: Wuyuan (China's most beautiful countryside — Hui-style whitewashed villages surrounded by golden rapeseed each March-April) and Mount Sanqingshan (UNESCO granite peaks with sea-of-cloud sunrises).
Peak rapeseed bloom is a moving 10-day window from mid-March. Jiangling (higher altitude terraces) blooms first; Huangling (with drying racks) 5-7 days later. Check the local Wuyuan tourism WeChat account for real-time bloom updates before booking flights.
